CITYDOGS -- advocating for the recreational needs of urban dogs and their owners

CITYDOGS OF SAN FRANCISCO IS DEDICATED TO THE PREMISE THAT OUR CITYS DOGS MAKE VALUABLE SOCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS AND DESERVE HUMANE AND GENEROUS RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES. Like Goldielocks, Steve, and Cowboy, pictured in San Francisco's Esprit Park, our city's dogs and their owners need and deserve humane and equitable recreational opportunities. Citydogs is dedicated to doing research, providing information, and finding solutions for sharing our urban parks and open spaces.

WE START FROM THE BELIEF THAT OUR CITIES' DOGS MAKE VALUABLE SOCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS.

In this photograph, a therapy dog in New York comforts a child in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Our lives are safer, richer, and happier because of dogs, including:

SEARCH AND RESCUE DOGS,

BOMB AND MINE-DETECTING DOGS,

POLICE AND MILITARY DOGS,

GUIDE DOGS FOR THE BLIND,

ARSON INVESTIGATION DOGS,

(Even environmentalist SNAKE-DETECTING DOGS -- preventing the spread of bird-eating Brown Tree Snakes from the island of Guam)

AND EVERYBODY'S BEST FRIEND -- THE ORDINARY HEROIC FAMILY PET.

They all need and deserve generous recreational and play space.

Please send your photos, stories, and facts about the many ways dogs benefit society and cities so we can document and publicize their contributions.
