Our cities' dogs and their owners,
like Goldielocks, Steve, and Cowboy
(pictured in San Francisco's Esprit Park),
need and deserve humane and equitable recreational opportunities.
As an active wetlands restorationist in the San Francisco Bay area, Steve Cockrell's feeling is that dogs are being unfairly, unnecessarily, and inhumanely restricted and excluded from enjoying what little open space humans have left to the commons.
Goldielocks and Cowboy were adopted from the animal shelter where Steve was a volunteer dog walker. They are eco-dogs who participate in habitat restoration and bird rescue.
Steve is the founder and chief advocate of Citydogs.
Doug Bernstein is a charter member of Citydogs and one of the many Saint Francis's of the City of Saint Francis. Doug has fed, sheltered, doctored, spayed, neutered, and found homes for dozens of lost or abandoned cats and dogs in the South of Market area.
